Well, I think, it is about time for you to be less traditional with your usual travel and leisure and take your adventurous spirit a little further.  Northern Philippines is the best place to experience varied cultures fully imbibed in local delicacies, historical sites, townspeople and tourist-must-see establishments such as coffee shops, local restaurants and museums.

1. White beaches of Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte. Pagudpud is at the tip of the province of Ilocos Norte. It's just an hour of bus ride from the Laoag International Airport. Pagudpud is home to a long stretch of white beaches where you can check-in with decent and high-end hotels. Waves at Pagupud beaches are perfect for starter and skilled surfers.

Pagudpud is also home to the great Blue Lagoon which has the calmest and bluest waters in Pagudpud. Near the Blue Lagoon is a mini-blowhole which remained unknown to many tourists. I

2. Heritage City of Vigan, Ilocos Sur.  Vigan City is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is home to Crisologo Street, where country's oldest Spanish are found. Cobblestoned Crisologo Street is home to old houses, antique and souvenir stores, coffee shops, street dining restaurants and hotels.

If you would like to enjoy more of Crisologo Street and take a few quiet moments to appreciate the cozy atmosphere of Vigan City, you can check out its coffee shops.

  • Leila's Cafe. It offers a yummy cupcake and a regular latte for only $2. You can also try their sell-out Good Morning Sandwich - egg and ham sandwiched with delicious pancakes.
  • Mocha Blends. You can sip your coffee while sitting at Mocha Blend's chairs which are set up right at the edge of the cobblestone streets of Crisologo.

Vigan City is also home to several museums such as the Syquia Mansion. Syquia Mansion is the family house of the wife of former President Elpidio Quirino. The Jose Burgos Museum also holds memories of one of the country's secularization pioneer during the Spanish colonization. 

Vigan City also has a beautiful Hidden Garden that boosts great landscaping mainly converged with native crafts and Asian ornaments. You can buy different kinds of indoor plants, outdoor plants and other ornamental plants at Hidden Garden.

3. Paoay, Ilocos Norte. Paoay has hectares of sand dunes that are perfect for motocrossing and sandboarding. It is also home to an old Roman Catholic Church which displays great architectural talent of past eras. Also found in the area is a rest house of Former Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos, which, has been converted into a museum. 

All these places have great hotels where you can have your accommodation. There are also numerous restaurants where you can enjoy Oriental Food and other cuisines friendly to your tastes.
