Where to Go Holiday Shopping in Metro Manila, Philippines

Shopping around Metro Manila, Philippines could be fun especially if you know where you are going to buy quality and cheap locally made goods.

Holidays and shopping often go together. If you are fond of traveling, chances are that you have products from every country or place that you have traveled and visited. As a traveler some people have already a lot of collections that they have acquired from the many travels they had. Most people shop for things they love when they go to other places. Even if you are not a shopaholic, you always want to have something to remind you of your travel so you buy some things especially clothes or some small tokens that you can add to your collections.

In the Philippines, there are so many places where you can buy cheap goods if you happen to drop by Manila, the capital of the Philippines. Manila is one of the busiest cities in the world with lots of shopping malls and shopping places to go during the holidays. It may not be like the other big cities in the world but you can find lots of goods that you can buy to bring to your country.

During December you can buy lots of local goods which are usually handcrafted from different places in the Philippines. The local manufacturers often bring their finished products in the cities, where more people could see their products and buy them.

To suggest a few shopping places where you can find some very good locally made products, here are the best places to go:

Divisoria, Metro Manila

Divisoria is like Mong Kok in Hong Kong where you can find the cheapest goods around. Here you can find the Tutuban shopping mall if you don’t want to squeeze yourself among thousands of shoppers along the streets. Tutuban offers good quality goods at reasonable prices. The good thing about shopping in Tutuban is that it is air-conditioned so you can shop with gusto without sweating too much. But if you want other goods with cheaper prices, you can walk around the streets of Divisoria and find them just along the streets displayed in mats and boxes. Some smart shoppers buy from the street vendors because the prices are sometimes half only of the same products displayed in shopping malls.

If you are hungry, there are many restaurants around where you can try Filipino dishes at cheap prices.

Baclaran, Parañaque City

Baclaran is only a short ride from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. If you are a Catholic you can easily drop by the Baclaran Redemptorist Church which is just a few steps away from the shopping areas. Baclaran shopping areas have expanded lately and more products could be seen around. There are many products at reasonable prices here so you can hop around and choose the best ones.

Greenhills, San Juan, Metro Manila

If you are looking for cheaper gadgets, like cellphones and laptops, you can go to Greenhills. Prices here are cheaper compared to prices in the malls. There are also bags, accessories and clothes available.

Shopping around Manila is fun provided you can stand the heat. If you can’t then there are always air-conditioned shopping malls where you can go shopping. The only advantage of shopping in these places I suggested is the prices of the products since shopping in well known malls could be expensive. Unless of course you are looking for original branded products which are not available in the shopping areas mentioned above.

Have fun as you shop around Metro Manila, Philippines.
